Mayor Bloomberg Says Inmates Will Stay On Rikers Island-No Evacuation Orders

With Hurricane Irene heading up Interstate 95, preparations are being made and precautions are being taken. However, there's always one group of people that sometimes are the forgotten ones. As a society we have a duty to service this society with our talents and some people choose not to. So those of this society that are place in prisons (rightfully or wrongfully, that is not the argument here) are DEPENDENT on the same society who placed them there, to PROTECT them. Evacuations orders were made in various NYC areas for the first time in years, but the one place that is in harm's way was not given any evacuation orders, Rikers Island. Read about it (here).

Plaxico Burress Catches TD Pass In First Game Back In NFL

Plaxico Burress has 3 catches and a touchdown in his first NFL game since his infamous incident. The Jets won the game and Plax looked pretty good for the pre-season. The huge 6'5" wideout is hard to cover one-on-one and that's why Rex Ryan wanted to get him on the Jets. With all that Plax has gone through (and ST says he was treated unfairly by NYC), we wish him a great forthcoming season. Read more (here)
