CBS' The Early Show Discuss Ms. Badu's New Video "Window Seat"

Watch CBS News Videos Online

Now I personally LOVE the "Window Seat" video. Erykah's debut video off her her album New Amerykah Part Two: Return of The Ankh is causing some people to talk. Erykah Badu has her style and her way to send a message and it wouldn’t be Ms. Badu if she didn’t drop a jewel. Was it right? Was it wrong? Well I think we could have gotten the same effect from the video, if her and her management team would have gotten a permit. Then as a fan, I can leave out the legal issue when discussing this video. Well, listen to what mainstream media is saying about this new video. With all respect, CBS' The Early Show is one of my many sources and favorite programs :).

Where was this “Tea Party” Movement when Bush was President?

Seriously, “Where was this Tea Party eight years ago?” Think about that, and then think about the validity of this “Tea Party” and their movement. Why must Obama be stopped? This party didn’t think Bush-Cheney administration needed to be stopped?

I’m starting to believe that some people here in America are more in love with hating Obama than they love America herself. Does this “Tea Party” movement honestly think Obama hates America like their protest signs reads held by supporters? Why must Obama be stopped? Why is Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh front lining this hate? I mean Sarah quit her job, her commitment to the people of Alaska, and somehow she’s a ‘Face’ for “Common Sense Conservatives” (as she Twitted). In a recent NY Daily News poll the question was asked, “Do you think Sarah Palin will become a major force in politics?” A whopping 68% said, “No, most people can’t take her seriously”.

Let’s not forget about Rush. Why is Rush so quick to shoot down this administration? What has Rush done politically that is positive? Can anyone of his followers/listeners please tell me something positive that he has contributed to this country? He actually had his followers believing that he would rather live in another country than America if this HC Bill gets passed. Guess what? Rush is still here and probably still popping pills.

In fact, that is the first question I would like to ask anyone I met from this “Tea Party” Movement-“Do you love America more than you hate Obama?” Now here’s why I would present this question for discussion, because Obama is not trying to hurt anyone. He’s simply trying to get America to be a healthier place. Opposition, now that’s natural. Hatred, now we are going too far.

America historically has always had differences when it comes to social programs. When Social Security was developed under FDR and Medicare under LBJ, sure our country was divided. However there was more discourse about the issues and less talk of violence. Now I wasn’t there for FDR and LBJ and sure there were some threats of violence, but I’m sure it wasn’t to this level. Besides if it was, we are supposed to be a progressive country and move forward.

I will not say that I am 100% behind this HC Bill, but what I am most proud about is this administration aggressive step to move forward and attempt to solve a problem. Healthcare is a problem here in America and we vote people into office to solve problems, not fold their arms and pout like grade school children. I’m glad to see America problems attempted to be solved, then a poliTRICIAN (politician) talk rhetoric and the problem still exists.

Just some thoughts. That's all.

Erykah Badu LIVE @ Not So Secret NYC Show

Shouts out to Eb_the_Celeb (www.ebtheceleb.com) for getting this up on Youtube. EB got the great live footage of Erykah Badu performing "20 ft Tall" & "Window Seat" from last night's so-called secret show in NYC. Well the streets are saying that Erykah did her thing last night and gave a heck of a performance. One thing is she has is some eager fans. Fans that are eager to hear her songs of love, poliTRICKS, and faith. This woman who is probably 'The Queen of NeoSoul' also has her fans eager to see her perform. Who knows where, she’ll perform next. Right now, it’s Miami, but with Ms. Badu, you never know. No tour dates yet, but you know they’re coming. Thanks to ST's contributor LeRoy McCarthy for the info. Erykah Badu's new album, New Amerykah Part Two:Return of The Ankh drops this Tuesday, but you can pre-order on iTunes. We've heard the album here at ST and we believe this album is a CLASSIC and a must have.

Live Photo submitted by ST contributor, Cynthia Edorh (thanks).

"Window Seat"-Badu's New Video

How ironic is it that I get a text from ST's photo contributor, LeRoy Macarthy in NYC and that reads, "Going to see Erykah Badu tonight" and her brand new video for "Window Seat" premiered today. The video was directed by Erykah Babu as this is the first single off her new album New Amerykah Part II: Return of the Ankh which is in stores this Tuesday. The buzzes in the streets are heavy for this one. Ms. Badu can work her as...sets well, but it wouldn't be Badu without dropping some knowledge. Shouts out to all my INDEPENDENT THINKERS.

New Meth, Rae, and Ghost Leak-"Dangerous"-Free Download

Okay, if we find it, we bring it and here is the latest leak off the Wu-Massacre album. Now with the leaks that ST have heard, its safe for us to say, "Looks like this album is going to be another Wu Classic". Dangerous allow Rae at the start gate with his cool, smooth, flow, then Ghost comes in going hard and if I'm not mistaken, I think he's giving it to T.I. Now I can be wrong, but listen, then you be the judge. Meth takes the anchor on this one and leaves the pack. Classic Wu style is the description of this tune. Get the download at the jumplink.

Erykah Chose NYC to Perform Songs from Her New LP

*NEWSFLASH* as of right now, this is the first LIVE performance scheduled for Erykah Badu's new album Part Two: Return of the Anch. If anyone in the NYC area didn't already know, THIS SHOW IS SOLD OUT!!! I know, you may ask yourself, then why post? Answer: the streets are talking and this is an anticipated album. The streets want some new Badu and these streets are eager to see what Ms. Badu got. So I posted this, because NYC is the big stage, and the streets will talk the day after. Since I’m not going to be in the building, I’ll keep my ear to the street for the reviews. I know she's is going to 'Rep and Wreck Shop' in NYC. Sorry I’m going to miss this one.

The Best Sum Up I've Read About the Health Care Bill-Take A Minute to Know the Facts

Okay, so this Health Care thing is a BIG F.... DEAL. I don't know if it is the right thing in place or the wrong thing, but I do know that I am glad that America has something in place. I'm glad that our country is moving forward. I'm glad some administration is finally trying hard to get people to see a doctor. I don't think in any way that Obama is the new Hitler like some of these right wing radio hosts. Obama is trying to get America healthy with care and Hitler killed people, so where is the comparison? Now the one thing I do know is-THIS IS WHAT CHANGE LOOKS LIKE.
I know the average American doesn't have time to read 1012 pages of the bill and in this 'fast food', 'want it now' culture, we want some cliff notes. With all that said, here is the best summary I've read about the immediate effects of the Health Care Bill. Take a little time to get some facts.

Wu-Tang-"Our Dreams" (Video)

Wu-Tang, Wu-Tang, Wu-Tang. Okay, well at least Ghost, Raekwon, and Meth. This is the first video off of the much anticipated album, Wu Massacre. The "Our Dreams" video premiered today and the video was directed by Rik Cordero.

Nas and Damian Marley Live @ SXSW

This year was the first SXSW that I've been to since like '94. At that time, SXSW catered to more of the rock genre than other genre of music. In fact back in '94, the Hip Hop/Reggae/R&B scence was alot smaller. Well this is over ten years ago and as progressive as the city of Austin is, so is SXSW. HIP HOP/REGGAE/R&B is a big part of SXSW. I mean, I never saw so many Chitown, Detroit, NYC rappers, DJs, and producers in one spot at one time in the state of Texas. Expect to see a lot of live video's, music, and things of that nature coming out this week.

Billboard magazine just released this Nas and Damian Marley video live @ Emo's. I missed this event, because I didn't get to Austin until Friday night. But the streets damn sure was talking about it all weekend. ST told youu that these two were teaming up for an upcoming album.

Anthony David is Still Making Music-"4Evermore" & "Military Minds"

So my man AD (Anthony David aka Acey Duecy) is a writer and a musician, so that means that a brother stays busy. And just in case you think this brother haven't been staying busy, guess again. Anthony is working on his next LP, but in the meantime and in the between time, this guy finds time to give music away. Now if you aren't hip to AD, then you need to get hip quick. His voice is sultry and his words are poetic which makes for a winning combination. I've been following AD since his first album (3 Chords and the Truth) and became an immediate fan. I interviewed AD several times over the years as this ATLien and I found out that we had a few friends in common. Well last night I just happen to surf by his page and AD is giving away FREE music. So if you haven't gotten any of his old songs on your iPOD, now is the time.

Anthony David does a remix to his cut, "4Evermore" featuring Algebra and Phonte of Little Brother. Now even though this "4evermore" remix is good, but the winner of the free songs has to be MILITARY MIND featuring Eric Roberson. Yep, Erro (or E Robe as I call him) and AD go rhyme for rhyme as if they were Run DMC or EPMD. The beat on Military Minds is sick and the wordplay from both AD and Erro is crazy. That's the beauty of this genre we call, "NeoSoul", because all forms of Soul music can be incorporated in the genre. So these singing brothers can also rap and it somes off, FRESH!!!
Anthony David have other songs that you can download. Like "Lady" featuring Keisha Jackson (daughter of Millie) off of his second LP, Red Clay Chronicles. His third album came out on India.Irie label Acey Duecy, but Acey Duecy is a collection of AD's favorite cuts off of his first two albums. So since he's giving it away, get the FREE DOWNLOADS at the jumplink, enjoy the tunes, and then thank me later.

House Passes Obama's Historic Health Bill

"This is what change looks like," Obama said moments after the history was made. Summoned to success by President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled Congress approved historic legislation Sunday night extending health care to tens of millions of uninsured Americans and cracking down on insurance company abuses, a climactic chapter in the century-long quest for near universal coverage.

If so many presidents before Obama tried to get heath care reform, why are so many people objecting it? The president asked for congress to do their jobs and go to work for the people. "Get this reform done" were his comands. So now the senate has no other choice, but to go to work for the American people. I think so many people are opposing, becuase they don't know or care to know the facts. Well I found an interesting column and if you don't understand the facts, read the articel and see if it helps you understand. If the people we voted in do their jobs, this should be a good thing for the people of the US.

9th Wonder Presents Tom Hardy-"As We Shine"- feat Rapsody (this girl is hot)

9th has been hustling, like everday. We hear about him doing a beats for this one and that one, but 9th doesn't do beats for wack MCs. Anyhow, Tom Hardy is another one of those North Carolina MCs thats been surfacing since Little Brother had to let the world know that real MCs do come out of Norf Cak. Tom Hardy flow is not an Asther Roth (not comparing because they both are white), because this kid has a flow and delivery better than some rappers who are making money following the fame instead of the art. Tom Hardy's lyrics are those of a student to the game and you can tell that he was a fan of real HIP HOP. This is a cut off of the "9th Presents" tracks and before you even ask about 'HER' let me tell you about Rapsody.

Rapsody is part of the Norf Cak crew Kooley High (the crew met at NC State) and is signed to 9th's new label,  A Wonderful World Music Group / Jamla. I first heard Rapsody on 9th's Dream Merchant and when I heard her voice iw as like, "Who's that?".  Well I did some research and found her myspace and only thing I can say is, FIYAH!!After checking out this video, you may want to hear more from Rapsody and if you do, here is her myspace page-(www.myspace.com/rapsodymusic.com). She is definatley one to keep a look out for in the near future.

Michael Jordan Becomes Majority Owner of the Charlotte Bobcats (ESPN VIDEO)

The Great Michael Jordan becomes the first former NBA player to be majority owner of a NBA franchise. When MJ went to Charlotte Bobcats as a minority owner from the Washington Wizards front office, myself and others had hopes that one day "Mr. Ultimate Highlight" would one day become majority owner. Well that day is here and I know everyone in North Carolina is happy to have their hometown man in the leadership role of their NBA franchise. I know one thing, if you expect to play on his team, expect to be challenged. He’s a competitor and a champion and both of those attributes should transpire over to the business side of the game.

WTH is Going on in Texas? Thomas Jefferson and Thurgood Marshall Removed from Students’ Textbooks

The Texas State Board of Education gave preliminary approval on Friday to remove significant areas of curriculum from civil rights and global politics and replace them with conservative historic figures and beliefs. Courses that would be affected by these changes include social studies, history and economics.
The Texas State Board is mostly made up of lawyers, a dentist, and a publisher, who discussed whether or not Hip Hop should be taught as a cultural movement. Well the right wing members of the board voted that Hip Hop should be deleted as a requirement and that student should not be taught about its cultural impact across the world.
Here are some other things conservatives also approved:
-Board members argued about the classification of historic periods (still B.C. and A.D., rather than B.C.E. and C.E.)

- whether students should be required to explain the origins of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its impact on global politics (they will); and whether former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir should be required learning (she will).

-In addition to learning the Bill of Rights, the board specified a reference to the Second Amendment right to bear arms in a section about citizenship in a U.S. government class.
-Conservatives beat back multiple attempts to include hip-hop as an example of a significant cultural movement.

-Numerous attempts to add the names or references to important Hispanics throughout history also were denied, inducing one amendment that would specify that Tejanos died at the Alamo alongside Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie.

-Another amendment deleted a requirement that sociology students "explain how institutional racism is evident in American society." to have a sociological focus on institutional racism and its presence in American society banned from the books, as well as removing important references of Latino and Hispanic figures throughout history.

Now before you go on a high horse and say, “That stupid Bush state” let me say this. Because of California’s economy, most of the textbooks made for the country would come from Texas. I always say there is a big difference between a ‘RED’ state Republican and a ‘BULE’ state Republican. This is definitely a RED state move pushed by RED state right-wing Republican.

This is comedy, because I remember when these same right-wing Republicans acted when President Obama wanted to talk to our children. The Republicans used words like, ‘brainwash’. Many parents didn’t send their children to school to hear a couple words from the president of the United States, because they thought these couple of words would ‘brainwash’ their children.

As a Native New Yorker who now resides in Texas, I find myself saying this too much since I relocated here, “Get with the rest of the world and stop staying in your little closed box Texans”. Now this is not to say all Texans are in a closed box, in fact the ideology has nothing to do with Texas alone, but any rural area in our country. Rural area (red states) people are not forced to get along with others like people are in the metropolitan areas. In fact, though Texas is a Republican state, the urban areas of Austin, Houston, and Dallas are Democratic areas. Again metropolis, forced to get along and live with each other and not stay in a box.

Without me saying it these decisions borders racism and is the very meaning of our Skelle Top word-POLITRICKS. Let’s hope these negative changes to HIStory don’t happen and let's not get tricked.

T-Pain, Snoop Dogg, and Rick Ross 'Re-Create' an Atlanta Collegian Classic in 'Freaknik: The Musical'

Freaknik was Spring Break for the black collegian in the late 80's and early 90's. Unofficially the last 'real' Freaknik was in '94 and I'm glad to say I was part of the fun and tradition. I remember taking into account what was important to me as a senior college student, so that I can make it to Freaknik. My roommate and I looked over our bills and decided that we didn't need cable, we were going to pay half of our phone and light bills, and  hustled up a few bucks so we can 'front and floss'.

My crew drove from Houston to Atlanta in my man's Hashim's jeep and jammed Nas' Illmactic casette tape most of the way. Illmatic had just dropped and was the hottest thing on the streets at the time. My crew consisted of Hashim who was from Dallas by a way of Harlem, Jamal aka J-Rule from Chicago's southside, Neil G the Alpha from Jersey who is now a lawyer, and myself-The Southside, Queens representative.

We met college people from all over the country who came to Atlanta to release some steam and have some fun. Of course, since it was 'Freaknik' and the stripclubs in Atlanta goes hand in hand with the theme, there were plenty of FREAK in the Nik, but the car jam down Peatree to get to the park, was the best car jam in my life. It took us 20 minutes to go a half a mile, but did we care? Not at all. We were college kids on break and a CARE was the last thing on our minds.

The rest of the stuff will stay at FREAKNIK. We had fun, came back to school, and a couple of days later our phone was cut off, so was our cable, and we received a 'cut off' notice for our lights. None of that mattered, because it was all worth it to get to Freaknik and have a story to tell for the rest of our lives.

Now if you weren’t fortunate enough to attend FREAKNIK, well it’s like a big pot of Gumbo that consists of Mardi Gras, Daytona Beach, and a Howard Homecoming all mixed up. If you have an imagination and that mind can somehow put that combination in a bowl, you'll have FREAKNIK. I recently saw T-Pain's cartoon called "Freaknik: The Musical", but this cartoon is not for kids. The show premiered on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, detailing T-Pain and his group's quest to "successfully resurrect the spirit of Freaknik ... the biggest spring-break party known to man." Only thing I can say is, COMEDY!!! Check out the actor voices in the preview below and check out the cartoon on the Cartoon Network.

David Banner and 9th Wonder-"Strange" Free Download

We got our hands on the latest leak from the upcoming David Banner x 9th Wonder album, Death of a Pop Star.  Yes 9th has teamed up with David Banner. I think 9th either has his beats on sale or rappers are just grabbing him for work, because if his rep. either way, I like this joint. I always have liked David Banner for things he has said off of the mic and I do think Banner is one of the most creative talents in the south. The title of the leak is "Strange" featuring Big Remo. No release date yet on Death of a Pop Star, but I’m guessing sometime next month. Get the free download at the jump link below.

Jigga Man Breaks Ground in Downtown BK for the Nets New Arena

Even in this photo the Jigga Man has his 'Hardhat tilted to the side'. A little swagger and a great face for Brooklyn youth to look at what could be. This is big for NYC, but even bigger for Brooklyn. Think about the Mets and Yankees rivalry they have now. Or back when the Dodgers were in Brooklyn, they were right up there with the Yankees. That's the mission of majority owner Bill Ratner and the other visionaries of the ownership team. Personally I think it's great for NYC and a great look for Brooklyn. I think it's going to build a great rivalry and create more excitement for basketball. Just like the Dodgers, the Nets would get a lot of fans, and just like the Yankees, the Knicks will get a lot of fans.
Minority owner Jay-Z will be "even more" involved with running team in the future, a good sign for Nets fans since the superstar rapper is close with LeBron James, who is expected to become a free agent this summer. Hold on though Brooklynites, because I doubt The Knicks or The Nets are going to land King James this off-season.
Jay-Z has been involved since the day the Ratner team bought the Nets. Whether it is advice on players or advice on marketing, aside from being a great musician, he's a great business person and he is expected to stay quite involved with his investment.

After more than six years of delays and legal wrangling, Ratner's Atlantic Yards project finally got underway yesterday when a groundbreaking ceremony was held in downtown Brooklyn. The Nets' new arena, the Barclays Center, is the centerpiece of that project and is expected to be the most modern facility in sports.

Corinne Bailey Performs 'Closer' on David Letterman

David Letterman is up on Corinne Bailey Rae (lol). Corinne Bailey Rae performs live "Closer" the  3rd single from her sophomore LP, The Sea, which dropped last month. This is my favorite cut off of the album and I'm glad she dropped it as a single or at least it appears that way. Her stage performance is off the chain as she is as beutiful as her voice. Enjoy.

Allen Iverson is Facing Some Troubles

Since his abrupt retirement from the Sixers, Allen Iverson has been having some personal troubles. Here at ST, we're not here to judge, but to send our prayers out to Allen and his family as so much is going on in his life. If you haven't heard about Iverson's troubles, then check out this ESPN video clip and what Stephen A. Smith thinks Iverson needs to be successful.

The Greatest MC Died on March 9th

video platform video management video solutions video player

The Hip Hop Community is collectively saying today, "RIP to B.I.G." Biggie Smalls aka Big Poppa was the fella who definitely made a stain that cannot be removed in Hip Hop history and every March 9th, from NYC to the West Coast to Hip Hop community pays its respect. I came across Allhiphop.com today and saw this incredible remix of a Biggie classic. The track and video remix is from Hip Hop legends J. Period and Ralph McDaniel aka "Uncle Ralph". Enjoy.

D’Angelo Pleads Not Guilty to Charges That He Solicited a Prostitute

ST has confirmed that singer D’Angelo has pleaded not guilty to charges that he solicited a prostitute. D’Angelo, who's real name is Michael Archer, was arrested this past Saturday (March 6) in NYC's Greenwich Village for propositioning an undercover officer for sex in exchange for $40 bucks (didn't know it was on sale).

D'Angelo has proclaimed his innocence and says his focus is working on a new LP which is suppose to be out this summer. If he does get his project completed, it would be his first in 10 years (something about the dime mark in years. Sade, Reflection Eternal, now D''Angelo). D'Angelo's last album, Voodoo, was a career milestone, selling over 1.7 million and earning a Grammy for Best R&B album. In 2005 he was arrested twice, pleading guilty to DUI, marijuana, and cocaine possession charges.

A hearing for the prostitution charge has been set for May 4.Until then, let's not be quick to judge D'Angelo based off of his past criminal history. I mean in all honesty, does D'Angelo really have to pay for sex? For $40 bucks? Something is not correct here, but hey we just bring the story.

Reflection Eternal's New Video-In this World

Reflection Eternal which is made up of Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek have only released one album, the now-classic Train of Thought, in 2000. They split up for a moment to do the many solo projects they both have been working on. A decade later the group will release their second album, Revolutions Per Minute which hits the street on April 20th. ST brought you the first single, "In The World," and ST got our hands on the new video. Real Hip hop fans needed this album. Now all I have to do is wait 10 more years for BLACKSTARR to do another album, but this is a good pacifier.

No Surprise as Monique Wins Best Supporting Actor Oscar-Video

Mo'Nique won Best Supporting Actress for her role as an abusive welfare mom in the film 'Precious'. ST interviewed location director, LeRoy McCarthy from Lee Daniels film in an earlier post and from that interview, we were one of the first to jump on the Oscar bandwagon for Monique.  Monique was highly favored in the category and beat Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Penelope Cruz, as she did at the Golden Globes. Great job Mo!!!!!

'Hurt Locker's' Director Kathryn Bigelow Makes Oscar Night Historical

Kathryn Bigelow made history at last night Oscars by becoming the first woman to win the best director for the film 'Hurt Locker. She was competing in the same category as her ex James Cameron for his direction of the film 'Avatar'. With March being Women's History Month, expect this accomplishment to be shared all month as it was a great night for Kathryn Biegelow and as she said in her acceptance speech, hopefully she won't be the last woman to win such an award. Congrats again Kathy.

Eric Roberson Explains His Inspiration for the Song Howard Girls

One of my favorite songs off of the latest Eric Roberson album, Music Fan First is Howard Girls. Howard Girls was written for those who went to Howard, but this is most definitely a HBCU song. Anyone who attended a HBCU can simply substitute their school in the chorus and sing along. When I sing along I substitute my HBCUs (Cheyney and Texas Southern). Here Eric Roberson or E Robe as I like to call explains the inspiration for the song.

Erykah Badu on Jimmy Fallon

Jay Z Let's Female Fan Perform and She Does Work

video platform video management video solutions video player

Jay-Z's stop in New Orleans was filled with energy and during a moment of the show where Jay was talking to the crowd, a female fan was yelling for him to do "Song Cry". She also yelled to Jay that she wanted to do the song with him. Jay eventually told her to come up and she murdered it. She even had her OWN lyrics to the line, "there was no Beyonce just me and you!” Jay just had to laugh at that one. Clearly this fan does at-home mirror remixes to Jay-z songs to fit her. Check out the video.

Guru's Nephew Tells his Story

I am a huge Gangstarr fan and have been since I brought the cassette and album of Step in the Arena. I've also brought about three singles off of that album as I was a Block DJ and college DJ at that time in my life. I've partied with Guru twice in my life. Once at my homegirl Candice's birthday party in SoHo, NYC back in 2004. Guru though his stand is short, his vocals are huge. We talked about things other than the rap game that night.
With the amount of respect I have for Guru and Premier, I didn't want to blog about any rumors I heard. However, Guru's nephew Justin Nicholas-Elam Ruff felt compelled to speak on the situation. Only thing we care about as fans is the speedy recovery of Guru's health and our prayers are with the family. I will say Solar sounds shady in this situation and if you wonder how this can happen, then check out the jump link.

Only a Red State Replublican Would Think of This

Like the title says, "Only a Republican" would think of honoring this President this way. Well maybe my RED state Republicans, because there sure is a difference. Well RED state Congressman and Republican, North Carolina's own Patrick McHenry thinks Ronald Reagan is such a hero that he should replace Grant on the $50 dollar bill.
My first question here to the NC Congressman is what did Reagan so great to deserve such an honor on a piece of US currency? Did he do more for our country than Ulysses S. Grant? Let's never forget the cocaine boost in our country when he was president. Heck, dude was an actor, a front face for the agenda of Republicans more than he was a politician. People can go on and on with the negatives concerning Former President Reagan and some can go on with positives about Former President Reagan. Problem here is first off it’s too soon for this guy to be on any piece of US currency, second his positive input should definitely outweigh his negative input and this president, though two terms, was not an overly positive president for the United States. Check out the story at the jump link.

"Curtain Call"-New Single from Little Brother's Final Album

So it's the end of a nice run for Little Brother, and they are going out at the top of their game like Michael Jordan. Yesterday LB dropped "Curtain Call," the first single from the final LP, Left Back. It premiered on their MySpace page yesterday and later in the evening Phonte released it to the masses for free download via Twitter. No 9th Wonder on production this go around as ST as mentioned in an earlier post, but Khrysis holds down the production while Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh go back and forth with the lyrics dances like other great duos EPMD or Run DMC. This is what LB love about LB and what fans have come to expect from LB. April 20th is the release date of Left Back and the final lap in Little Brother's run. Listen and get the free download at the jump link.

Micahel Jordan Lost a Game of H-O-R-S-E to a Rookie

Okay so somebody out there can beat Michael Jordan. Well at least in a game of H-O-R-S-E. That's right, Washington Wizard's Gerald Henderson was said to have beaten the legend in a game of H-O-R-S-E. I know this may bring the older readers back to MJ and Larry Bird playing a game of H-O-R-S-E, but this time MJ ended up on the losing team. Oh well, guess the greatest even has to hang up his jersey in H-O-R-S-E also. Check out the story at the jump link

DMX Host Gospel Rap Extraveganza in Az.

DMX has talked about leaving the rap game alone for the priesthood for a while now. Well he’s no Rev. Run yet but he has agreed to help out the Morning Star Sanctified Church. He’ll be performing for the parishioners there in Arizona Saturday night and rumor is he’s doing it for free. Rumors are also spreading about DMX and not cursing anymore. My question is, does he still bark? Ruff. Ruff. Great Job D, Get @ me Dog.

Sade Covers Ebony Mag

Sade is gorgeous and it’s hard to believe she is 51 and 'fine as wine'. My friend called this pose on the cover, 'Let My Hair Down' and I think it’s fitting. What a cover for my birthday month. Sade is staying in the news and staying fresh. What a story, what a cover. This is the April issue of Ebony Magazine.

Gil Scott-Heron's "I'm New Here"

For those who don’t know about Gil Scott-Heron, he is the voice from the legendary group The Last Poets. It was Gil's scratchy voice that said, "The revolution will not be televised". Well through all of Gil's ups and downs in life, he somehow punches out another album I’m New Here dropping lyrics, poems, and vocals over beats. Gil’s music is for the mind and this CD is like sitting at the Poet Cafe with your girl. Just that this trip you're in your car or at home in a chill zone while you listen. Great music and something that our younger generation needs to hear. Check out the jump link to get a preview listen.

Estelle Wants to be a "Freak"-New Video

If this song was out in my College Days when House Music was king, I can see everyone all over the floor dancing on beat and out of control. Music like this is strictly for the dancers and the ones that can have fun on the dance floor with this sound. When I hear this song, all I want to do is dance. Estelle has a hit here, even if not in the US, definitely overseas. But some areas in the country like Detroit and Baltimore may have a little more fun with this song.
