Recently an Akron, Ohio woman and mother of two was recently sentenced to jail for 10 days after sending her kids to a school district in which they did not live. Kelly Williams-Bolar was sentenced last week and will begin serving her time immediately. ST follower, Jacqui said-"This made me sick to my stomach. Just to think that a woman who was trying to get the American dream for her and her children and this is the result."
Williams-Bolar sent her children to the school district where her father lives, so that her children could get better education. In the meantime, she was studying herself and working towards becoming a teacher. Not only will she serve the ten days, she will be on probation for three years and worst, with this conviction, she will not be able to teach in the state of Ohio. Dr. Boyce Watkins gives a great review of the details of the case (here).

Stuff like this pisses me off. I can't believe this crap. Now is the time for us to speak up. This judge took away everything this woman was trying to teach her girls. Where are all the pro-bono lawyers at. This woman need this to be appealed. SMH
This is a shocking abuse of the legal system. Any mother would do the best she could to ensure her children get the best education they could. To jail her & put her on probation will KILL her chances of becoming a certified teacher.
This is terrible. Every mother needs to stand up. Not only have black parents send their children to better school districts, but whites have also. Any mother would send their child to a better school if the school in their neighborhood is poor. Jail was the wrong answer here. Hope somebody gets a hold of this case and appeal THE WOMAN judge decision.
This sounds all to familiar. Can you say "Just another way to hold us back"
