Alexis Hutchinson Refuses Deployment to Afghanistan to Care for Infant Son

Many mothers would have done the same thing as young Alexis, but according to military law a person can face prison time if they do not go on deployment orders. In a recent AOL poll, 75% of the people don't think this mother should be punished. Then again, some would say, "She knew what she signed up for". Whatever side you are on, you have to agree that this child is better off with his mother, than being in foster care. Did our US Gov't suggest for this mother to put her child in foster care to serve our country? Whoa>>>>>check out the story>>>>>>>

This makes me not only angry but so very sad that what she "signed up for" to give her children a better life would actually be the same entity that would tell her to choose them over her own blood! She is willing to give her life for a country of complete strangers but then have to give up the only thing she knows her very own children. WTF??? I only have one child the one that I would die for and for someone to tell me oh just put him in foster care like that is a solution outrages me! I don't blame her for not going I wouldn't either... I am in full support of this mother and all others like her, having to choose between your child and your country... sorry but that's no choice at all. Do with me what you will.

This is why my Pops always told me that signing up for the service was "signing your life away". Sadly she will have to leave that child with someone many people do. Some folks even have to leave their children with friends if they have no fmaily memeber available. Or they risk imprisonment or discharge. Now my question where the HECK is the Father or the father's family? Smdh...sad

Good points! I wanted to know where was the father myself. I mean for such a young, cute, baby, the father must be somewhere, but according to the article, this mother has no relationship w/the dad.

As a Captain in our US Army, I would expect for this young lady to deploy. She should have gotten on her plane like a true soldier. She is not the first one in this situation and she won't be the last. However, like I tell my troops all the time, "You know what you signed up for". I think she needs to do some further reseach amongst her family, friends, and the paternal family. if the father is not arround, then maybe his parents are. She is a soldier and she must do her job, because I have to do mines. I don't expect for civilians to totally understand, but the men and women who she was to serve with are truely disappointed in her decision.
